Ahead of our virtual meet up we caught up with Preslav Mihaylov from Uber to learn a little bit more about him. Here’s what he said….

How did you get into Go?

I was initially involved in blockchain so first learnt about Go during that time, but I didn’t start actually working with it until joining Uber in 2019.

Since starting to use Go I’ve also used it in my personal project maintaining todocheck – which connects your TODOs to your tasks in your issue tracker

What was your background before that?

I’ve been creating and leading training courses and workshops in different programming languages since 2015. I’m Passionate about sharing knowledge and making complex principles easy to understand

Biggest achievements using Go?

My current work with Uber and my personal TODO project which I’m really excited that people are starting to use

Highlights of your speaking career?

·       Recent Uber Meet Up

·       Gophercon workshops

What do you enjoy outside of the tech world?

I recently got a new apartment which needs renovating, so I’ve been working a lot on that. Initially I didn’t think I’d enjoy the work at all, but it’s actually been great! I’ve enjoyed learning some new skills, seeing the final outcome and it gives me a good excuse to get away from the screen!

If you had a Superpower what would it be?

Flying at the speed of light like superman, although I think spiderman’s way of using webs looks more fun and challenging
